MERSEY MARITIME ANNOUNCES 2022 AWARD FINALISTS

The Mersey Maritime Industry Awards 2022 are set to be the biggest and most high profile yet with 39 finalists announced. The winners will be determined by the sector itself with an industry voting platform opening in early October.

Mersey Maritime has revealed the shortlist for its eighth Mersey Maritime Industry Awards (MMIA22).

The UK’s leading maritime awards ceremony celebrates the achievements of the industry’s most outstanding companies and individuals. The theme this year is ‘Our Time is Now’ with a focus on the bright future that lies ahead for the industry. This year the awards have 16 sponsors including 4 diamond sponsors; BAE Systems Chevron, Kays Medical and Liverpool John Moores University.

16 judges from across the maritime industry reviewed and assessed all entries which were then compiled into a shortlist of 39 finalists. The judging process for this year’s awards has evolved once again with Mersey Maritime introducing ‘silent’ judges that acted as a solo judge, who independently review and score their allocated applications, without any input from the other judges

On Monday 10th October 2022, Mersey Maritime will be launching their industry voting platform which will give local, national, and international industry members the opportunity to vote for the final winners which will be announced at the awards dinner in Liverpool on Thursday 10th November 2022.

Chris Shirling-Rooke, Chief Executive at Mersey Maritime commented: “The Mersey Maritime Industry Awards are particularly important in 2022 coming as they do, exactly on our 20th Anniversary. On every occasion over the last eight years, we have worked tirelessly to make them the best in the country, if not Europe, and I am supremely confident they will be the most exceptional showcase yet for our incredible maritime industry in this, its most important of heartlands. The standard of entries this year is the highest we have seen, and our judges certainly had a tough job in working to draw up the final list which will now proceed to our industry wide vote. Everyone who submitted an entry can be incredibly proud of their work; it was really encouraging to see the depth of the activity that is going on within our sector which we know to be growing further and contributing substantially to the regional economy.

“I would like to thank our expert panel of judges for their work and indeed our generous sponsors without the support of whom this most high-profile demonstration of the might of the Mersey Maritime industry simply wouldn’t be possible. Congratulations to all the finalists and good luck in the next stage of the process!”
