Kays Logistics officially launch warehouse and fulfilment centre

This week, Kays Logistics officially opened their new state-of-the-art warehouse and fulfilment centre at an exclusive event in partnership with regional cluster organisation, Mersey Maritime. The new development will allow Kays to expand its capacity and meet the increasingly sophisticated logistics demands of its customers.

Working across a range of industries Kays Logistics has experienced significant growth over recent years serving an array of sectors such as automotive, retail, aerospace, and e-commerce. Reflecting the growing demands of customers, the expansion will enable Kays Logistics to offer 3PL services including full pick-pack functions, reworking and kitting services along with storage and distribution.

Kays CEO Ben Ludzker said: “It was a proud day for me and all of the Kays team. It’s a tangible example of the company’s growth ambitions and our continued diversification. We see great potential in this new logistics division and are already looking to add new sites across the country.”

Kays Logistics and Mersey Maritime invited businesses from around the UK and the Mersey Maritime membership base for a tour of the impressive new site. With over 50 attendees from industries ranging from maritime and technology to professional services and construction, the site was praised by many.

The event was delivered in partnership with the Port City Innovation Hub (PCIH), which is a regional programme to assist SMEs in the Liverpool City Region drive and champion maritime innovation, the programme is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the Liverpool City Region Strategic Investment Fund. Participants of the programme were invited to attend the launch event and also had the unique opportunity to give a 15 minute pitch of their business to a senior panel of the Kays team.

Director of Liverpool City Region Freeports, John Lucy commented: “It is great to see the launch of Kays Logistics, a fulfilment centre set to bring new jobs and business to the area. This development is within close proximity to Liverpool John Lennon Airport and the Port of Liverpool, both of which are within the Freeport area. The Liverpool City Region Freeport will create a low-carbon, multi-modal, multi-gateway trade platform with a network of sites attracting high-value investment like the Kays Logistics development. Sites like this support growth and employment opportunities to the LCR region to help regenerate communities through advanced industry, innovation, and collaboration.”

Chris Shirling-Rooke, Chief Executive at Mersey Maritime commented:  “Massive congratulations to our partners, Kays Medical and Kays Logistics on the launch of their new warehouse and fulfilment centre. At Mersey Maritime, one of our key priorities is to support our ecosystem by helping to encourage growth and create new jobs and this development is a prime example of this.”

The opening celebrated past successes and new beginnings, demonstrating exciting times ahead for both Kays Logistics and Kays Medical where there is a clear commitment to continued investment in the region, its people and the future.
