Mersey Maritime – Technology & Innovation Forum
We are pleased to launch our Technology & Innovation Forum (TIF), which is part of a suite of forums exploring key topics, challenges and opportunities for the maritime industry. The TIF will explore technology advancements, opportunities and potential for innovation across the industry including smart ports, future of shipping and digitalisation as outlined in Maritime 2050.
For our first forum, we will be exploring Smart Ports in the UK:
“What does Smart mean for UK Port Management ?”
Join us for an interactive forum exploring the latest trends in port technology adoption and how these exciting tools, such as big data, IoT and digital twin, could be used to improve port & terminal operation in the UK.
We will be joined by Richard Willis from Royal HaskoningDHV, to lead a workshop suitable for port and terminal operators, and all interested port users, such as shipping lines, trucking companies, 3PL and all others in the port-centric ecosystem.
Richard Willis – Technical Director, leads the growth of port operational and technology-related consulting for the worldwide group, as part of the Smart Ports team. With over 25 years’ professional experience within the shipping and port industry, between container, ro-ro and general cargo terminal operations (here in Liverpool) and the design and delivery of technology & efficiency projects within ports. He holds a track record in TOS and related systems, including development and delivery of multi-cargo terminal projects worldwide.
The forum will include a review of smart port concepts and how challenges in UK ports might be overcome, with open discussion aimed to shape the future of this new Group within Mersey Maritime, to focus us on the most interesting questions and topics to be investigated at future online or in-person events.
