SITE VISIT AND MARITIME SIMULATOR TOUR WITH LJMU

About this event

Join us as we head to Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) for a tour of their maritime simulation suite on Tuesday 28thFebruary 2023. The event will start with an overview from Prof Mike Riley and Abdul Khalique, Head of Maritime Centre at LJMU at Mersey Maritime offices before heading over to the university via coach (parking isn’t available so we are putting on transport for all attendees).

The state-of-the-art, maritime bridge simulators enable marine pilots, shipmasters and senior navigating officers to develop and practice their skills in a realistic but risk-free environment. This incredible facility can,  not only create training conditions for any waterway in the world but can also be used to recreate accidents or incidents for investigations or training. The 360° field-of-view allows mariners to practice approaching locks and berths, connecting tugs and bringing vessels of all types and sizes safely alongside, incorporating any number of mechanical failures and breakdowns.

With an in-house capability to develop ship and port simulation models, LJMU can provide consultancy services to study port development, deployment of new and larger ships into existing or modified port infrastructure.

During the event participants will have the opportunity to test their skills (and sea legs!) and navigate their way through different exercises and challenges!

This event is open to all participants but has limited spaces so please book your place early.
