Since 2022, the Department for Transport’s UK Shipping Office for Reducing Emissions (UK SHORE) programme has allocated over £200m to more than 150 projects to develop clean maritime solutions. The funding leverages over £100m private investment, supports over 300 organisations and benefits all four nations of the UK. The Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition programme is a multi-year R&D funding initiative as part of this programme.
The DfT have now announced a further round of funding, CMDC6, with £30 million available. This is designed to support clean maritime technologies including electric, hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, wind power and more. The application window opened on 24 January 2025 and will close on 16 April.
A national briefing event was held on Monday 27 January 2025 but, as when there have been previous rounds of funding available, Mersey Maritime has been asked to host its own dedicated briefing event at a regional level.
This regional event will bring together interested industry stakeholders, provide them with an update on CMDC6 and assist with the building of potential consortia to maximise the opportunity presented by the programme.
This event is open to Mersey Maritime members and non-members.
