Polaris Media – Ben Pinnington, Managing Director
Ben Pinnington is the founder of Polaris Media, a maritime specialist PR firm. Polaris works with some of the biggest maritime companies in the world helping them look after their reputation, raise awareness and win business. Ben sits on the North West Council of the CBI, and the Society of Maritime Industries commercial marine group in London.
Ben will discuss the work that Polaris Media do and how to make PR work in the maritime sector.
University of Liverpool – Prof. Simon Quinn
Prof. Simon Quinn will join us to share the details of a new research initiative open to the Liverpool City Region maritime industry.
Prior to the scheduled opening of the Maritime Knowledge Hub in 2022 Mersey Maritime in partnership with Wirral Borough Council, and the University of Liverpool have planned the Port City Innovation Hub (PCiH) Development to pilot activity in the maritime sector, building cluster capacity, facilitating wider engagement and initiating test and trial innovation accelerator activities.
As part of the initiative 7 long-term research intensive projects with SMEs will work in collaboration with the University of Liverpool. Each collaboration will be based on the R&D aspirations of the SME supported by the University’s provision of laboratory, analytical, technical and intellectual support that enables the innovation to convert into new or improved products, systems and services.
RNLI – Ryan Preece, Project Manager
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) is a charity that saves lives at sea, founded in 1824 as the Royal National Institution for the Preservation of Lives and Property from Shipwreck. Ryan Preece joined the RNLI in 2018 to lead on the design, development and deployment of digital systems and process throughout lifesaving operations.
Ryan will provide an overview of the work currently being carried out by the RNLI around Wirral and Merseyside, focussing on lifesaving operations, fundraising, marketing and media as the RNLI works towards its Bicentenary year in 2024.
