Mersey Maritime are delighted to announce that for our October Face-2-Face we will be joined by the Department for Business and Trade. At this event we will be hearing from Paul Glossop, Assistant Director, Marine at Department for Business and Trade.
The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) has just launched a new UK-wide scheme – the Shipbuilding Credit Guarantee Scheme (SCGS). The scheme supports ship buyers and operators who require finance to buy new vessels (or mobile offshore installations) using UK shipyards. It also supports the refit/refurb/repair of existing vessels via UK shipyards.
The scheme works by using the government as a guarantor for loans. It encourages lenders to supply finance, helps ship buyers/operators buy new vessels or re-fettle their existing fleet and benefits UK shipyards and supply chains.
The SCGS is delivered for DBT by UK Export Finance (UKEF) and is part of a package of measures set out in the National Shipbuilding Strategy Refresh to improve the overall competitiveness of the UK shipbuilding sector.
